"The Bus We Loved" Book

I bought this at the weekend. To be honest, having flicked through it
at Showbus and in a couple of London shops I almost *didn't* buy it as
looked a bit, well, dull.

Well, goodness am I glad I did buy it. I couldn't put it down last
night it's so absorbing. It's that rare book in the field of
transport, something written equally to appeal to those with an interest
and to the general reader and it manages to address both groups
intelligently and in an informative way.

There are a few great typos, though, including a reference to a "bus
cue" at one point!

A really good read, though. (Pit about the dull cover; it deserves
better.)

I agree, Ian, it is a gem of a book - and I've ordered several (cheap
on Amazon) for friends' (not noted bus enthusiasts!) Christmas
presents.

It must coount as one of the rare transport books to receive reviews in
both the Daily and Sunday Telegraph, although one was broadly
complimentary, the other was not!

Pity you didn't buy it at Showbus - I bought mine at the Granta stand
and it was even autographed!

Marc.

I happened to drop into the temporary (while the main museum is being
refurbished) LT Museum shop on Saturday, and the author was there to sign
copies. So I decided to buy one, and was glad I did. Amazing that one so
(relatively) young has managed to capture the moods of the 60s and 70s so
well!
