Foglight fools

Is it just me, or is the irritating trend for morons to drive around
with their foglights on, on the clearest of nights, growing? It seems
especially bad driving through Sudbury and Alperton.

I really do not appreciate having to shield my eyes from some fool's
blazing rear foglight, nor being dazzled by the foglights of the
driver behind me.

Just why do these idiots bother? Having foglights on doesn't exactly
improve the appearance of a car, and just looks ridiculous on an old
Nissan Primera (incidentally, I do find that Primera drivers tend to
drive dangerously, flitting madly between demon dragster driver and
timid old granny modes of driving at will! No offence intended to any
good Primera drivers on here, btw)

What is the legal position withg regards to the unnecessary use of
foglights, especially if they cause a hazard by dazzling or
temporarily blinding other drivers? If I were to have an accident as a
result of such inappropriate use, would the foglight fool be to blame?

There are laws governing when you can and cannot use Fog lights etc as well
as laws governing the colour of light that is allowed to be visable from the
front of your car. So all the morons out there with trendy coloured LED's
can expect a few wise words of wisdom to be passed their way, eventually.

The long and the short of it is this. You cannot use fog lights unless
driving conditions dictate that their use is justified, you cannot use them
if you (misguidedly) think they look cool

As for those who drive around with their rear fog lights left on by accident
because you once drove in some fog in 1992 and have forgotton to turn them
off, well, currently there are no laws about the wattage of headlight bulbs
(that I am aware of) so if you are in front of me, you can expect 4 X 100
watt full beam lights to bring your attention, not only to my presence
behind you, but hopefully also to that amber light on your dashboard that
you have probably been wondering about

FOG LIGHTS, they ain't cool unless its foggy

Hmmm, interesting... Does the owners manual specifically say they're
'spot lights' rather than fog lights? What's the symbol on the
switch?

Hey Tom

You've just touched on one of my night time motoring pet-hates

The vilest of offenders put their rear foglight(s) on in the rain which
really blinds the feck out of those behind them who are already struggling
to see through a misted up / wet windscreen

The front foglight fools just seem to think it makes their car look sexier
or have terrible night vision and use them on country roads to see where the
tarmac starts and finishes

I guess I prefer these eedyits to the ones who simply blast your retinas
with constant full beam

My real pet hate is cyclists who ride with no lights in the dark, why do
they ALL wear black clothing ?

Feckin dangerous

And elephants!

(I seem to recall from another report that this was prompted by an increase in
accidents involving elephants.)
