Does anyone know the full story here? Is this the one where the pedestrian layout was so poor that people were hopping over fences and getting hit by buses entering or leaving the bus station? Certainly pedestrians hit by buses; unaware of fences. Tally-Ho Corner is shaped like a big A. The old bus station occupied a fair bit of land, on which a new, pricy block of flats was built, as well as some shops. The new bus station occupied a cross-bar of the A under some of the building and was being used as a cut-through by buses. This practice has now been stopped. Pedestrian priorities were poorly designed. The M&S Simply Food outlet, inside the A was so inaccessible due to traffic that it closed. Horrible. I am no longer mobile enough to use the buses for my monthly trips to North Finchley, but waiting for a 221 on Kingsway was no joy either. -- Helen D. Vecht: Edgware. |
