There was a bit in the Evening Standard today about the ongoing
Gerrards Cross situation. Seems the local residents, understandably,
are getting a bit upset about the derelict Tescos ironwork sitting in
their town. The Tesco response is they'll have to wait until Costain
have carried out the survey of the remaining tunnel before they can
deterime what to do next. The report also says Tesco paid £8.5m in
compenstaion to NR/Chiltern over the tunnel collapse.

Totally untrue. They paid in clubcard points.

Hardly surprising that the local residents are upset about something to
do with the Tesco, as they never wanted it in the first place...

True, but in time they would still begin to use it. And, it would also
attract custom from outside the town (which is another reason why it
wasn't wanted). In the end, Tesco will 'win' but it might cost them a
fair bit!
