Hi all,

I have been informed that a mock up of the 2009 stock is being assembled
outside Euston Station. That is all I know.

outside Euston Station. That is all I know.


I saw it being 'wheeled' in on a lorry last night (around midnight, as
I was passing through on the no. 10 bus to Kings Cross) and it's
certainly short! It has a set of doors missing, presumably a mock-up
that can be moved about easily!!

Should have got a photo, but I guess TfL will have plenty of hi-res
ones available very soon!

Visual displays around the venue will highlight key aspects of the
investment programme, the upgrade and the new train.

There will be a plasma screen running a short animation depicting the
experience of riding on a new Victoria Line train, and managers will be
there to answer your questions.

There is no need for an appointment, simply come along and show your
staff pass to enter the secure site.

The CAT itself will take place from 21 July to 3 August. The mock up
will then be open to the general public until Thursday 11 August."

I'm glad to hear that someone managed to slip at least one sensible
clause into an infraco contract! Perhaps it's time to 'fess up' and
tell us what else you and your right thinking colleagues got past the
common-sense filter that was installed at 55 Broadway during the PPP
negotiations ;-)

Oh I don't do confessions about work on here. Last time I got close to
doing that I got a load of abuse from some noggin about ticket gates -
I'm not going there again. I ended up having to unsubscribe for a while.

inner workings, however much I'd be fascinated to read about them.


I'm not sure fascination is the quite the right word.

Does anyone know why 2009 stock is being named after the year when it
will be introduced, when previous stock seems been named after the year
when it was ordered (eg D78 stock introduced in 1980 and so on)?

Charing Cross or Liverpool Street.


Presumably because all of those platforms are sectioned off from the
remainder of the stations in question and there may be issues about
allowing large volumes of people into those areas which are not normally
publicly accessible. It would also require people to hold tickets to
enter real platform areas while the Euston Square display will not
require payment.
