Tickets to Custom House - quick question

Might be a stupid question, but if I get a CDR from Laindon to Custom
House does that only allow travel on Silverlink from West Ham onwards
or can I use tube/DLR as well?

The ticket descriptions on Qjump aren't very clear, but it looks as if
one ticket is £9ish and another is £13ish including a travelcard. Do
I need a travelcard to use non-Silverlink on this short section?

Cheap day return is a national rail ticket.
So the DLR or tube cannot be used.

The Oyster fare from West Ham to Custom House is only £1.00 each way I
think.

So maybe take the half way house and pay £11.00

Also how many people are travelling. Groupsave may provide some
savings.

From the National Fares Manual, Section L
(
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/passen...manuals.html):

"INTERAVAILABILITY OF RAIL & LU/DLR TICKETS

National Rail tickets which include validity between any two North
London Line stations between Richmond and North Woolwich are also
valid by LU/DLR services by any reasonable combination of LU/DLR
services, but not for exit at any intermediate LU or DLR station."

So the answer is yes, you can use Tube/DLR as well.

No - see above.

That's interesting - it implies that when travelling between two NLL
stations, you can buy an NLL ticket but use the Tube. For example,
Richmond to West Ham costs £4.30 CDR but costs £5.00 for a daytime
Oyster fare; why not just buy an NR ticket and use the reasonable route
of the District line?

Because it's not reasonable as it passes through Zone 1?

The quote from the manual doesn't make any reference to zones; obviously
day returns are not zonal. Besides, the only "reasonable" LU/DLR route
between NLL stations avoiding Zone 1 is use of the Jubilee/DLR between
Stratford and Custom House. The only other available non-Zone 1 route is
Richmond/Kew/Gunnersbury to West Hampstead via Turnham Green, Ealing
Common/Hammersmith, Rayners Lane and Wembley Park, not something I'd
consider reasonable.

Just to expand on this, the equivalent wording (also from Section L) for
the use of LU/DLR tickets on the NLL is:

LU/DLR tickets valid in Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4 are also valid on National
Rail services between Richmond and North Woolwich (via North London Line).

Which really confuses matters, given the NLL doesn't enter Zone 1!

Cheers,

Barry
