Default Satnav problems the other night

On (I think) Thursday night, my Tomtom had my position wrong for ten or
twenty minutes. As I drove eastward across North London, the Tomtom seemed
to be following a track of roughly similar shape about 4.5km to the south.
Fortunately I knew exactly where I was going anyway! Did anyone else
experience any problems?

sounding much like they were saying :

Roll on GPS road pricing and speed limit enforcement, eh...?

No probs - they'll just add a find for driving through fields and peoples
gardens, if the mapping data is anything like TomToms!

Such systems will most likely be using the Galileo positioning system which
will be much more accurate and under European control. Only four years
away...

The full deployment starts in 2008 - IF the in-orbit validation all goes
smoothly...

But, hey, the validation is currently only a mere 40% over budget, with the
second test satellite being at least eight months late to launch -
currently scheduled for December, instead of Spring this year...

Then the validation will be one whole third of the way through...
