Do national rail tickets work at Faringdon?

I remember 10 years ago, the London Transport goon squad wouldn't let me out
at Faringdon without purchasing a penalty ticket even though I had a valid
National Rail ticket to London which was acceptable at King's Cross or City
Thameslink. I was miffed at being asked to pay £2 a day extra towards London
Transport without even setting foot in a tube train.

I've got a funeral / memorial tomorrow for a dear friend in the city and
will be travelling on a National Rail ticket.

Could the group please tell me if this anomaly has been corrected?

It appears that Faringdon is now being classed as both TFL and National
Rail.

I've printed out my national rail plan and will be ready for a fight /
argument / stand off tomorrow unless I hear otherwise. I'll be asking
specifically for a ticket to Faringdon tomorrow.

Sorry to sound very rude and grumpy but the last time I took a train, due to
the ineptitude of someone breaking something or other, I was told to go to
Victoria, admitted on the underground, and then some black man in a blue hat
wouldn't let me out the other end without an argument. That's was fine by
me. I wouldn't go to this damn city by train if you paid me double, under
normal circumstances!

The only National Rail tickets valid for entry/exit at Farringdon are
those marked London Zone 1 or named as Farringdon. Tickets marked
London Terminals are not permitted and you could also be subject to a
penalty fare.
Tickets marked with a + (cross london LU transfer) are valid through
Farringdon but not to exit/enter the station.

So to be clear, I will need to ask for a Return ticket to Faringdon. I shall
do just that.

What's the odds they will dick around tomorrow!

I have bought return tickets from Gatwick Airport to Kings Cross
Thameslink. Can I use them to and from Farringdon instead?
Thanks,
Dominic

Yes, the National Rail Conditions of Carriage allow you to do this
(unless the conditions of the ticket say you can't, but this doesn't
apply to any of the Gatwick to KXTL fares). I assume the (LU) staff at
Farringdon are sufficiently well versed in the NRCoC to not give you
any hassle.

His distinguishing features we

1. He was black.
2. He had a blue hat.

This is a bit like saying, "I saw a red car drive past". "He wore a white
shirt". "The leaves on the trees are golden".

Perhaps you would also like to infer that I have some prejudice (or
favourtism) towards red cars, since the colour of the car is an attribute I
and most people notice.

Only in London would such a trivial attribute cause such an hysterical and
unfounded reaction.

What is discriminatory by saying "a black man in a blue hat"?

You're just picking on me because I'm white.
