Starting a rail journey halfway through
 

I had a look through the NR Conditions of Carriage, but couldn't find
a definitive answer to this one, so I thought I'd ask you
knowledgeable people :-)

Occasionally, I have cause to travel from Brentford to Watford
Junction (changing at Clapham Junction), with a pre-bought ticket. If,
for some reason, it happens to be more convenient for me to start my
journey from West Brompton or Olympia on a given journey, is my
original ticket still valid?

Yes it is, unless the type of ticket expressly prevents you, however these
types of tickets e.g. Apex, or SuperSavers, are not usually obtainable for
short journeys of the type you are making

I've copied the relevant condition below, in two parts to highlight the info
you need.

Extract from NR Conditions:

16. Starting, breaking or ending a journey at intermediate stations

You may start, or break and resume, a journey (in either direction in the
case of a
return ticket) at any intermediate station, as long as the ticket you hold
is valid for
the trains you want to use. You may also end your journey (in either
direction in
the case of a return ticket) before the destination shown on the ticket.

However,
these rights may not apply to some types of tickets for which a break of
journey is
prohibited, in which case the relevant Train Companies will make this clear
in their
notices and other publications.

I don't know what the chance of the inspector noticing are, anyway -
I've only ever seen them beween Kenny O and H&W.
