Canning Town "excellent"

Spotted a plaque on the wall at Canning Town station, between the DLR
platforms, about Canning Town being an excellent station or something like
that. I can't remember the exact wordage.

Haven't noticed that at any other DLR platforms. Is it only DLR? What does
it mean exactly (I use Canning Town a lot and I can think of many words to
describe it, but "excellent" wouldn't be one of them, see my various
comments on UTL "passim").

Do the other disabled-friendly stations have it but I haven't noticed the
sign? Or is this some special gong that Canning Town won?

Perhaps it's at every station and I simply haven't noticed it.

Maybe it's like those boards at each station that describe the service
on each line as "Good Service".

Normally, the plaque reads "Excellent Station". If one of the lifts is
out of order, a member of staff will stick a sign over it saying
"Minor Flaws". If all of the lifts are out of order, the sign will say
"Severe Flaws".

Maybe it's a certificate of excellence from the Concrete Society for the
quality of its concrete?

Are you sure it wasn't one of the Excel conference centre signs?

As John Rowland suggested, it is an award for civil engineering from the
Concrete Society:

LOL! I thought John R was taking the **** in his usual self - ie the only
thing Canning Town Station *could* get an excellence award would be in
concrete....

Was in Canning Town again this morning and believe it or not, following on
from the concrete one, I discovered another plaque up there somewhere else.

A round thing, saying: "2005-2007 accredited as a Secure Station".

LOL they sure like their plaques and showing off. So what's all that then?
Where was the security when people got mugged at gunpoint in the bus-
station a few weeks ago? And if it's so secure, WHY DO THE BLOODY TOILETS
CLOSE SO EARLY BECAUSE THEY'RE WORRIED ABOUT VANDALISM?

These plaques really make me laugh. Do other stations have this
accreditation?
