I'm sick of arriving at the station after 8.30 and finding all the Metro newspapers gone. I'm really happy to find that there are some left by others on the train. Additionally, because I commute arse-about-face (live in zone 2 but work in zone 6) I'm also grateful to people who leave the evening papers on the train, even though I sometimes have to race the very efficient cleaning staff to them. Thank you to all who leave papers on trains and the staff who make sure they get taken off at the terminus. -- Fig |

Why cant people take them with them? They probably can, but they leave them as a courtesy to other passengers. I suppose this, like whether mobile phone conversations are allowed on the train, is just one of those areas where you can't please everyone. |

As for the latter, if people respected the idea of "quite carriages" you would be able to please more people. But that's at odds with reality. -- Michael Hoffman |

Not so much to the ones who leave a mess of papers strewn about that wind up on the floor the first time the doors move open/close. -- Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. |

I also like being able to find a paper in the train. Since I rarely
travel during peak hours I don't usually find one at the station. I'll leave them there, behind the seat, and nicely folded usually. But yes, you also see many loose sheets lying around. A late evening Met. line train looks absolutely awful. There's no "polite" place to put it as there is when you have transversal seating. |
