I'm sick of arriving at the station after 8.30 and finding all the Metro newspapers gone. I'm really happy to find that there are some left by others on the train. Additionally, because I commute arse-about-face (live in zone 2 but work in zone 6) I'm also grateful to people who leave the evening papers on the train, even though I sometimes have to race the very efficient cleaning staff to them. Thank you to all who leave papers on trains and the staff who make sure they get taken off at the terminus. -- Fig |

You do realise the Daily Star has more editorial comment than the Metro which has none.- The Metro presumably gets paid by its advertisers for wasting as many trees as possible, ie by getting each individual person to take one out of the rack as proof of circulation. The way to both save trees and to reduce the profitability of all this litter and environmental damage is to ensure that everyone who wants to read one can find one on the train instead of having to take more of them out of the rack. |

were saying : Why dont you just buy a newspaper? You do realise the Daily Star has more editorial comment than the Metro which has none. Because I've already listened to yesterday's news yesterday, and today's news today on Radio 4 before I catch the train. I just want some vacuous crap to save me from viciously murdering my fellow passengers, since I forgot to chuck a book in my bag. Metro fits the bill nicely. |

The only thing Metro (and the other ghastly freesheets) is good for is stuffing it in my boots to help dry them out after I get back from a weekend up some random damp mountain. So I'd like to issue a plea for them to be banned on every day except Sundays so that they're available when I need them and at no other time. Of course, what this really means is that I should buy some new boots that don't leak. -- David Cantrell | A machine for turning tea into grumpiness Today's previously unreported paraphilia is tomorrow's Internet sensation |

Why cant people take them with them? They probably can, but they leave them as a courtesy to other passengers. I suppose this, like whether mobile phone conversations are allowed on the train, is just one of those areas where you can't please everyone. |
