Last nights Primeval

Last nights episode featured giant spiders etc. on the Underground.
There was one shot of Arsenal station and presumably Aldwych was used
for shots with the train and tunnel entrance. But there were several
scenes of tunnels with curved walls of brickwork but not tiled. Were
these some of the long disused tunnels at Aldwych that I don't think
were never used.

I think the scenes shot in the what I think was meant to be some sort
of long-abandoned bunker, (always a good plotline if your'e down the
Underground), were studio-based and possibly mixed with cgi. Though I
suppose they could have been shot under some railway arch somewhere.
The Primeval microsite on ITV's website is going to have some location
information soon apparently and there's also a "making of" programme
coming on ITV3.
I like the assumption that the entrance from the tube tunnel was only
covered up by two sheets of corrugated iron leant against the wall. I
couldn't see them lasting long with trains going past.

The outside shot of Arsenal with the roundel in poor condition was
horrid!

The 'bunker' scenes appear to have been shot in the 'hostel' off the
Aldwych spur at Holborn, although Charing Cross jubilee was used for
the station evacuation scene where people were leaving via the
escalator.
