Route & Ticket info : Whetstone - East Croydon

Hi

Looking for some help here, my partner has just had a change of job (And
location). She currently has a Zone 1 - 4 Annual Oyster expiring in July,
living equidistant from Totteridge & Whetstone LU and Oakleigh Park BR.
Her new job is located 2 mins from East Croydon station (Zone 5)

Ticketing wise I suggeseted getting a monthly Oyster extension for just Zone
5 until her annual runs out, however our local ticketing office said she
would have to buy a Zone 5 & 6 period travelcard. Looking through the TFL
fares guide, that appears to be correct, is there no way of adding One zone
to an existing ticket ?

Route wise, my suggestion is Oakleigh Park to KX, walk to KX Thameslink, and
then FCC to East Croydon.
OR
Northern Line to London Bridge, then FCC or Southern to East Croydon.

Has anyone any experience of this route, interchanges and the likelyhood of
gaining a seat in the peaks ?

Regards

Sam

Oakleigh Park does not have direct trains to Kings Cross in the peaks.

An alternative which she might consider is Oakleigh Park to Moorgate, then
Metropolitan Line to Farringdon, then Thameslink to East Croydon - she would
be guaranteed a seat after Moorgate.

Also Oakleigh Park to Highbury & Islington, cross-platform interchange for
(crush-loaded) Victoria Line to Kings Cross, then short walk underground for
Thameslink to East Croydon.

Once you're on the Victoria Line you may well find it faster to carry on to
Victoria and get a Southern train from there to East Croydon - especially
during the peaks when Thameslink doesn't run via London Bridge.

According to trainline

OP 0725 - KX 0741
OP 0759 - KX 0817

You can exchange the ticket once. See page 4 of

Or she could buy a point-to-point NR season ticket from Norwood Junc
to East Croydon. This would limit her to the London Bridge - East
Croydon route though, although if she wanted to go via Victoria on the
odd occasion and be honest she could buy a daily extension to or from
Selhurst. (Given no PAYG availability at the moment to ECR).

This would also restrict her to trains that stop at Norwood Junction.
