Does anyone here know if most European cities don't have AC on their
underground train system. or is it just London?

The Paris metro doesn't and AFAIK most or all others in Europe don't
either.

We are regularly informed by others in this ng that air conditioning of
the trains operating deep level tube routes would be impossible as their
is little space in or under the trains for the units to fit plus no where
for the dispersed heat to go to.

IMX, a good proportion do not, except the very newest systems which
were built with it in mind. However, many systems are cooler than
London - probably because they normally have wider tunnels and larger,
better-ventilated stations.

I've just come back from Prague and the metro there feels like its
air-conditioned. Not sure when that one was built. The very recent Athens
metro has aircon

I'm afraid that isn't quite right - Athens uses forced air ventilation only.
There is provision for possible future air-conditioning in the stations but
not, obviously, for the rolling stock.

On the other had, buses in Athens do have air-conditioning, and what a
delight they are to step into!!
