Just to be clear to other readers, the above part of my post referred
had moved on to looking at Denmark Hill to LB journeys. As I discuss
above a Denmark Hill to LB journey could involve either a change at
Peckham Rye/Queens Road Peckham or Canada Water, they both have their
advantages and disadvantages. Those who require onward travel from
London Bridge would be likely to prefer the overground route, as they
would end up on the platforms of London Bridge mainline station as
opposed to the Jubilee line platforms, which are a bit of a trek from
the mainline station through the tunnels and undercroft.

Many passengers who now use Denmark Hill - London Bridge for an onward
journey on National Rail have alternative routes which may sometimes be
quicker. For at least some Southern destinations changing at Peckham Rye
then going via Tulse Hill is a possibility, while for Southeastern taking a
train from Denmark Hill to Lewisham, changing there if necessary, is an
alternative - and apart from anything else, these routes avoid Zone 1 fares.

Though of course if the journey involves further changes (for example
at Tulse Hill) then it starts to become less attractive.

But your fundamental point is sound. The Denmark Hill to Lewisham
trains start a bit later and finish early, and don't run on sundays -
but of course that service pattern isn't set in stone and could change.
