Default Metronet-liveried unusual working

I just saw one of the Metronet/TfL blue and yellow locos going south
on the slow lines through Harrow & Wealdstone. What makes the working
notable is that it was hauling just a single coach, which at a glance
appeared to be in First Capital Connect's purple-with-magenta-bits-at-
the-bottom livery. Quite strange.

Anyone know if it was up to anything of interest?
