![]() I've always been sceptical about these neighbourhood signs put up by councils, but yesterday I found one of the dumbest ones... as you pass from New Cross Road to Old Kent Rd you enter LB Southwark and are greeted by a sign that says "Southwark: Welcome to Peckham Rye & Nunhead". I'd say if you want either of those places, you have taken a wrong turning. |

I'd say if you want either of those places, you have taken a wrong turning. The signs I love are the ones that try and persuade you you're in a village. "Welcome to Southgate Village" or whatever. As if some tacky sign is going to make you see green fields and a rustic leaning on his pitchfork with maybe some fluffy gamboling sheep running around , instead of some traffic snarled , polluted suburb. ![]() I have "Welcome to Newham" sign next to block of flat where I live. IMHO it should be changed to "BEWARE! NEWHAM!"... |
