Well for £95m actually which makes it an incredibley expensive bridge and
mile of track.

What WAS that price for a mile of motorway?

Roads are a hell of a lot cheaper in England and elsewhere. For the very
high cost of rail, it only carries about 5% of the people in England.
Brits are really ****ed with all rail building draining money from roads
along with causing high congestions and the crumbling of the roads. Go tell
them your opinions at uk.transport and see how they attack you with your
highly destructive opinions.

From your use of "****ed" to (presumably) mean "annoyed" rather than
"drunk", I'd guess you are in the rebel-controlled colonies?

So you might not know that Transport Watch is a one bloke, not an
organisation, and pretty much no-one takes him seriously (well, maybe
uk.transport do!).

As for "all rail building", there is a distinct lack of rail building in
England, though some in Scotland.

There is a fair bit in London:
Whitechapel - Dalston
Stratford - Stratford International
King George V - Woolwich Arsenal
with quite a lot more expected in teh next few years.

Though that is reinstatement (as are the Scottish lines, to be fair)

Stratford - Stratford International

Not very long - 1 km or so?

King George V - Woolwich Arsenal

A whole 2.5 km, and the fact it is a river crossing is a bit of a
special case.

with quite a lot more expected in teh next few years.

Go and ask carheads what they think about rail investments? Wow! Then
for a real laugh, go and ask Ian Paisley what he thinks about the Pope.
Incidentally, one of the stations in question is behind my odl school,
chaps.

When most of Britain's railways were built, crumbled was the natural
state of most of the roads.

For the information of UK posters, many of whom may not be familiar with
Mr May, he is a far right Californian fanatic carhead, a kind of one man

Actually, quite a few car enthusiasts on misc.transport.road both
support investment in rail AND some USE rail passenger service.

Incidentally, one of the stations in question is behind my odl school,

I'm an habitué of uk.railway, but am definitely a 'carhead' (I do a lot more
miles in a car than on the rails and currently own 5 cars/Land Rovers.) I
work in both the highways and rail industries and see no reason why the two
modes can't exist side by side with appropriate investment in each.

They key word is *appropriate*.
