Is there a place where you can see both northern Line NB departure
board so you can see where the next train to Golders Green will be?

Following the modernisation of the station there is a bank of display
panels in the ticket hall before you reach the ticket gates. This
shows the next 3 departures / waiting times for each platform. You
should be able to see which platform will be served first by an
Edgware branch train.

Good luck trying to get down to the platform in time if the next train
is 1 min away :)

Do-able if it's Charing X branch, not so much if it's City...

Is it like Camden Town where they don't necessarily show the next
train if it's too close? I find it extremely confusing that the
displays on the platform are not consistent when I get there.

Though nothing is more useless than the repeaters at Waterloo which almost
always say "train within 3 minutes"

Fair point but I've made it from ticket hall to n/b Victoria line (about
the longest distance below ground) and caught a train shown as 2 mins
away on the t/hall display.

IMHO Camden Town is somewhere that needs a Trackernet display for the
public to see.

I know Trackernet format is not that easy to use by the masses but
regular punters will soon pick it up allowing them to make there own
decisions as to what might be next.

Camden Town already has repeaters of the Platform indicators at the
bottom of the escalators and outside the Supervisor's Office. Used them
on many an occasion when hunting a Southbound train.

Cheers,

Barry

the track diagram or the list of departures from platforms?

Not sure the track diagram would work simply because it shows train
numbers and they typically give no clue as to which branch is served
south of Camden. Northbound it doesn't matter as platforms are branch
specific.

However customer information systems should really be designed so
everyone can use them easily and quickly. Given the volume of tourist
and irregular users at Camden Town it would be a bit daft to put in a
"regular user" specific system. The place would just clog up with
confused people and there's no space in the station to have people just
standing about trying to decide what platform to use.
