Crossrail safe?
A few posts here and elsewhere have suggested the economic crisis will lead
to Crossrail (and other big projects) being cancelled or deferred. Todays Telegraph suggests not - "Alistair Darling will spend his way out of recession" "Mr Darling singled out housing, energy and small businesses as areas which would benefit from a "reprioritising" of government spending plans. He also signalled that proposals for two new aircraft carriers and a replacement for the Trident nuclear deterrent would go ahead, as well as London's £16 billion Crossrail project and the 2012 Olympic games, for which the budget is £9.3 billion." What they don't mention is that there will be a degree of cost-cutting, achieved by merging some projects. Thus, our new nuclear deterrent will be based at Old Oak Common, and as for the Olympics and the carriers, well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0jgZKV4N_A tom -- Everything looks kind of OK |
