Default Lost Virgin?

Hi,

Coming into Ealing Broadway, London bound, this afternoon (somewhere
betwen West Ealing and Ealing Broadway)I'm sure we passed a Virgin
coming on the slow line out of London. Anyone know what it might have
been doing there? Wouldn't have expected Virgin's on that route.

Possibly the hourly Virgin Euston - Birmingham 'blockbuster service', run
by a double Voyager, which runs via the Chilterns when Rugby is blockaded,
and has been running on and off at weekends since the summer. Turns off the
WCML at Willesden, runs down to Ealing, then takes the Greenford branch onto
the Chiltern route up to Leamington then to Coventry.

OTOH if it was a XC Brighton service it wouldn't have had Virgin markings,
and much more likely to have been in Arriva's colours.

Ah true. In my other reply I was interpreting "Virgin" as "Voyager"
for some reason.

Pity it doesn't take the more direct route via Hanger Lane.

No-one has ever proved that cycle helmets make cycling any safer at the
population level, and anyway cycling is about as safe per mile as walking.

That'll be because there isn't a direct connection available.

By the time the line down from Willesden Junction via Acton Wells Jn joins
the GW main line, after combining with the NLL for a few yards, you have
already crossed above the line you suggest.

It physically can't. the only way onto the GWML is west of where the
route via Hangar Lane leaves. The routes cross at 90 degrees near
North Acton station.
