Probably the loco's wheels etc were damaged in the derailment and so it can't be moved far by rail I suspect. B2003 |

It's been happening since BR days. With increased service frequency and faster services it simply isn't possible to path movements of shunting locomotives or defective (speed-restricted) main-line locomotives and/or stock between scheduled services. There isn't the time for them to get from one passing loop to another without causing chaos to the timetabled service. Therefore it is far more logical to send them on the back of a lorry. |

Consequently putting it on a low-loader and taking it by road is more economical than dragging it along the rails to the repair shop. -- Terry Harper, Web Co-ordinator, The Omnibus Society http://www.omnibussoc.org E-mail: URL: http://www.terry.harper.btinternet.co.uk/ |

I saw the low loader at Bounds Green MTV at 7.30pm on Thursday night, that
would fit with the load being the derailed Kings Cross engine "Dr. Sunil" wrote in message ... df wrote: This morning many people would of spotted a GNER train waiting on M1 Junction 10 (in the holding bay).
