A13 - Canning Town (new) Flyover virtually complete!

The new eastbound flyover looks like it'is due to open soon -
'September' according to TfL Street Management. It looks structurally
intact, with streetlights and most lane-markings in place. Two lanes
only.

I think the old one will be replaced (by a twin lane westbound
flyover), given that the project is due to finish next June. The link
to the Aspen Way tunnel is due open in November.

Best seen from the top of a 241 bus (Canning Town to Stratford) - but
allow plenty of time for delays on the A13 eastbound towards the
turn-off for Plaistow!

Open today, possibly been so for a couple of days. Eastbound traffic
only, though delays as far as Prince Regent Lane.

Westbound traffic diverted onto former eastbound carriageway of
original flyover, former westbound closed, possibly to be demolished
soon.

Hi John, long time no see.

Movers Lane underpass opened back in March (22nd IIRC), albeit only
one lane open either direction. Two by end of April I think, all lanes
open by August.

New Beckton Flyovers well advanced - should open in the next couple of
months.

Prince Regent is the least advanced (probably st least three or four
months left for this one).

As someone who regularly uses all the sections of the A13 currently
affected by the improvements, I'm very much looking forward to the
completion! Is the old flyover at Beckton going to be demolished? And
what were the reasons for the choices of flyover at some locations and
underpass in others?

No, the old flyover will disappear, quaint as it was.
Canning Town is easy to explain, as there was a flyover here already, and
an underpass would severely mess up the Tube/DLR/NLL station!

Beckton has flyovers because there's plenty of space available, and again
a flyover was already there.

I can only think Movers Lane and Prince Regent have underpasses so that
they don't 'spoil' the neighbourhood - not that they're the most
salubrious districts of London :)

Ere, I'll have you know I only live round the corner from the Prince
Regent junction. It's not bad round here - at least this bit isn't.
