Dartford via Sidcup: Connex metro = 1tph?

With the deletion of several Connex services from the new timetable (in
particular 19:20 Cannon St - Dartford via Sidcup), there's now a 57 minute
gap between Sidcup line services that serve Lewisham.

If you miss the 18:51 from Lewisham to Sidcup, the next train is at 19:48.

So much for "turn up and go".

Nick

How is this possible?

However, Connex still have their priorities right. Despite loosing
their franchise, they're spruced up their website. So, they've got the
important things right.

Ah...just checking their main international website. Apparently Connex
also run the bus network for Jersey. So, obviously they must be
planning on using their website for those services once they've been
stripped of their rail franchise...

AFAIK DB tickets are not valid.
Also operate in Sweden.

They operate in Australia and have messed up their trains too!

Sadly, it is...

Recently my trains have been even more squalid than usual. Grimey and
vandalised, in the mornings I quite often see *yesterday's* newspapers
strewn
across the train these days.

Maybe half their cleaning staff left, or they sacked them. Who knows. It's
just like then they first took over the service and didn't appear to do ANY
train cleaning whatsoever.

Connex-owned small rail companies run some local rail services in
Germany and they perform quite well...
The "Interconnex" trains (long distance) are said to be OK, too. They
are slower but also cheaper than DB trains, serving places that DB
long-distance services long stopped servicing.

Compared to the ex-National Express run MTrain, I think Connex is still in
front...

(At least their new trains are actually running in service at present.)

Connex have run the Stockholm tube system since 1999. Since I've never
really lived in Stockholm I can't make any really authoritative
statements about how they're doing.

There were a lot of complaints initially, just after they'd taken the
system over, but it seems to have been improving. I spent a week in
Stockholm last year on a training course for my employer, and commuted
from the hotel (downtown) to where the course was held (northern
suburbs) using the tube. That seemed to work well enough. Punctual,
frequent, comfortable, clean.
