Presumably planned, as they gave notice in advance. According to the
PDF, "There will be no Bakerloo line services in Zone 1 whilst we
replace a set of points at Piccadilly Circus and undertake rail grinding
work."

Last time I was there I did notice the crossover had been taken out.

Long planned. Finished in time so the line's open for carnival Monday.
I wonder if the hope is to finish it earlier so the Bakerloo is in
action on Sunday too.

Well thats good , as long as they get their priorities right. Never mind
people who need to commute to work so long as all the muggers , gang members
and other lowlife can get to their yearly knees up on time.

But the work was always going to need more than just the three days of
a Bank Holiday weekend. Better to be closed for Thursday to Sunday
when the carnival is on, but the general network is quieter during the
week (the couple of days before the August Bank Holiday are less busy
than normal) than a Friday to Monday long weekend at a busier time of
year. There are a LOT of tourists and non-lowlife who attend the
carnival.

Every other holiday or event (there were some major events at wembley and the
dome recently where the jubilee was closed but TfL just gave everyone the
finger) is prime time for engineering works on the tubes and the trains, yet
the liberal lefty establishments poster child event is somehow spared even
when the bakerloo line isn't even that important in this case. Funny that.

Heh , if I want to watch drug dealers, groups of skinny blokes with big dogs
trying to look tough and listen to **** music I can just wander down to my
local council carpark after midnight on saturdays.
