Thinking about the stations recently transferred (on the 20th) from SN to LO
in advance of the ELL service being extended to Crystal Plalce and West
Croydon. Presumably in the intervening period these may be provided with
full LO style signage, including the 'underground style' line of route maps.

Now these suburban stations still retain their debranded 'Overground
Network' style line diagrams, obviously quite useful for any SN pax
unfamiliar with those routes - but will these remain or be removed?

Do the TfL 'sign standards' allow for the stations dual served by SN and LO
to have all this info on one diagram, or might they have to two separate
maps - which would appear to be a retrograde step. What is the precedent
for when the Bakerloo and Silverlink Metro ran together on the DC lines -
I'm assuming Bakerloo/LO now appear on the same diagrams?

How does signage work at Shepherds Bush etc, where SN and LO already
share platforms?

I really can't remember. It works, though, because I didn't get lost.

I think they just show the 'NR arrows' alongside the Kenny O and Clapham
Junction symbols, (which is what the LO sign standard would suggest). I
think West Brompton and Kenny O haven't had their full LO upgrade yet
though, ie they still have temporary signs.

But the SN WLL service isn't anything like as varied as the current service
in the 'Sydenham Corridor', or at West Croydon. As I said it seems daft to
get rid of useful info just because they are NR services, and complexity
shouldn't be a problem per se, as seen on the multi coloured combined
diagrams showing Met/H&C/Circle at places like Kings Cross...

Shepherds Bush et al only mention Southern's routes in a footnote at the
bottom of their line diagrams.

Erudite is when you make a classical allusion to a
feather. Kinky is when you use the whole chicken.

If I were TfL, I'd leave the signage as it is and then replace it when the
ELL opens. There's no point telling passengers they now have a LO service
when there are no LO trains - details of the management of the station
matters to relatively few people. And no point making up new signs for a
short period only to have to change them again. Though a bit of paint or
sticky-backed plastic seems to have sufficed for Underground network map
changes as can be seen at various stations.

Sure - that goes without saying really, I suppose should have said 'provided
with but covered until the ELL opens'. But will they replace them with 'LO
only' diagrams is the question.

There were posters near the entrance to each platform saying:
"Southbound platform: 3 trains per hour" (or Northbound, obviously),
with a clockface showing the times past the hour when Silverlink
trains were due. No line diagrams that I remember.
