Your car, at 183mph, has to contend with cars operated by distracted

Because trains are pretty safe at 183mph whereas cars are
pretty dangerous.

But train tracks don't have the visibility for 183 mph. If some kids throw

New M6 Toll road opens, road for fools ?

Clearly Europeans believe something different, that constructing
motorways is rather like handing dollops of money over to a

New M6 Toll road opens, road for fools ?

The thing is, if you build the M6 bypass from general taxation, then you
are effectively subsidising those who use it. You might argue that
motorists
at large will pay for it, and motorists at...

New M6 Toll road opens, road for fools ?

But it hasn't been funded by road tax. It has been funded privately,
and ultimately by the people who use it. What is wrong with the user
pays principle?

That's fine. However, it doesn't...

It was due to disappear next year. and indeed it will. To be replaced
with another toll, exactly the same price the next day.

It has already happened, in fact. There is now a cheaper rate...

The effects of a road congestion tax

Rural bus services are under threat because no one uses them, and those
that do are probably recieving about £10 subsidy per journey.

less severe.

Not necessarily - they slow down for each hump and speed up in between - so
they may well be going faster in...
