I wish to register a complaint. The original Spaghetti Junction was
near Manchester, the Worsley Interchange of the M60, M61 and A580. It
at least looks more like a plate of spaghetti, unlike the tangled mess
in Birmingham.
Surely the essence of local nicknames is that there is no
competitive pressure between far off places for the same nickname.
London contains (at least) two Henlys Corners, two Fiveways
Corners, two well known Angel junctions, two Amen Corners and so on.
In this case the Brummie upstart came along and nicked the title!
