I wish to register a complaint. The original Spaghetti Junction was near
Manchester, the Worsley Interchange of the M60, M61 and A580. It at least
looks more like a plate of spaghetti, unlike the tangled mess in
Birmingham.

Surely the essence of local nicknames is that there is no competitive
pressure between far off places for the same nickname.

London contains (at least) two Henlys Corners, two Fiveways Corners, two
well known Angel junctions, two Amen Corners and so on.

In this case the Brummie upstart came along and nicked the title!

Wiki disagrees with you...

Maybe we could try to get Worsley renamed "Malfunction Junction".

An 'ethnic Londoner' friend of mine used to take issue with people
from formerly industrial areas referring to London by one of its
nicknames. "How can you call London 'The Smoke' when you come from
that dirty hole S****horpe?"

Reference? I remember the Worsley interchange when I was an undergraduate
around 1971/2, before the Brummie one was built.

Maybe we could try to get Worsley renamed "Malfunction Junction".

Why?

Sorry. If you wish to register a complaint you will have to be in Bolton.
