Default A4 Hammersmith Flyover closed due to 'serious structural defect'

A flyover which forms part of a key route out of west London has been
shut due to a serious structural defect.

And only a week ago TfL said "the flyover remains open and safe to use".
That was in response to a whistle-blower who contacted the Fulham and
Hammersmith Chronicle to say "It’s not a question of whether the
structure will collapse, it’s a matter of when":

Could be amusing if it does need replacing. Massive distruption to a
wide area for what?... years?. Plus the cost of course, how much for a
new flyover? £1 billion? Where's that coming from?
