A Period Travelcard isn't a season ticket? I think they are using weasel
words to modify legal definitions to suit their own pocket.

Found the TfL Conditions of Carriage
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/pdfdocs/nconditions.pdf which define a "season ticket"
as a point to point ticket between certain stations on LU across a zone
boundry and is valid for unlimited travel between the stations as shown on
the ticket.

It says a "period travelcard" is a zonal ticket valid for unlimited travel
on LU, Tram, DLR, NR within the zones on the ticket and on all buses.

So there is a difference, though not sure why they define it.

Becuase:

There are a few short-haul point-to-point seasons still available on
LUL which do not have multi-modal validlity.
