Imperial Wharf

Work to build a brand new station in the south of Fulham could start
as early as June 2008 after a multi-million funding package to pay for
it looks likely to be agreed.

Rail experts predict that the station should now be open in 2010

Couple of questions:
Does the opening of the new WLL stations at Shepherd's Bush and
Imperial Wharf have implications for freight paths along the WLL -

Should be ok for paths as the station has been allowed for in the
timetabling for a few years now, as has Shepherds Bush. IIRC this is one of
the reasons the WLL trains seem so slow already. Not sure if the eventual
improved WLL service of 4 tph, and the 2 tph Southern (proposed in the SL
RUS) will fit easily though.

Does it bring forward say the electrification of the Hounslow Loop to
the North London Line at Acton?

Is there significant amounts of electric hauled freight at all? I'd be
surprised if there was enough to justify the link you suggest, and suspect
there might be similar difficulties with pathing freight to/from SE London
round that way anyway, as it would still have to get through Clapham
Junction somehow.

How long will the NLL/WLL trains be? Catching the train on Match days
during the run up to the Christmas Shopping Season could be fun.

4 car depending on how soon the various top-up orders for additional cars
and whole trains are delivered. There was a recent story that the new dual
voltage Electrostars for Southern/FCC/Thameslink may have been prioritised
over some of the TfL order though. Platform lengths [such as at Willesden
Junction] prevent longer NLL/WLL trains. It is possible the Southern WJ
service could be lengthened, presume there could be an issue over West
Brompton though - is it 6 or 8 car long?

However - the new cars are declared to hold an amazing 667 people as against
the equally amazing 500 in the existing, as reported to the ORR he

Do the plans feature narrow platforms obstructed by lamposts - has
somebody checked - if so who?

Good point - it will be important to get the engineering drawings on line
soon, so that a 'newsgroup design review' can take place - clearly a cost
saving procedure too. Perhaps Imperial Wharf will be a quickly built
modular station. Obviously it will need a very high footbridge to allow pax
to overlook Chelsea Harbour properties...

Can only be short time before TfL pronounce its arrival on the tube map for
the first time - except it was already on the maps in 2005 when it was
originally planned to open...
