Boats are designed to be efficient in water - making boats that are
shaped like buses is not a forward step.

I wonder if/when it goes into passenger service, there would need to
be life jackets aboard as well...

I would be surprised if it was even being tested without them.

Yes, under every seat I believe.

I can't see this happening in England or Wales, because of the absolute
mountain of issues that the HSE would create. Don't know what the policy
on that would be in Scotland, however.

Very cool! When the video starts it really looks as if the bus is
going to continue straight to the bottom of the river!

It looks like the closing scene of The Sandwich Man with Michael
Bentine.

Only a bus company could be daft enough to seriously consider that thing as a
replacement for a ferry.

Watching it again, it looks like the door is entirely above the water line.
This vehicle is about as far from being a low-floor bus as you can get. How
do people even get into it without a pole-vault? This seems utterly
unsuitable to run a bus route, and I don't see it being any use except as a
shuttle between two centres which are not adjacent to water, such as Tilbury
Town station to Gravesend station.

Isn't that slope for people to slide down when the bus crashes into
the sea?

Anyone else noticed its left hand drive and the so door opens out onto the
road? It probably wouldn't be allowed to run a proper bus route even if they
didn't have to get the ladders out each time someone wanted to get on or off.
A complete joke.

Don't be silly. Do you not think that they might purchase a right-
hand drive variant?

These things *are* used for tourist purposes in both London and
Liverpool, FWIW. This only differs in that it's styled more like a
normal bus and not like a wheeled boat (though I expect the bodywork
is just for appearance purposes on those), and it's proposed to use it
for public transport rather than for fun.

Thanks. Like I said, completely impractical for a combined B11/EL1 from
Bexleyheath to Ilford - only fit for point to point, and I would be
surprised if the wheelchair legislation would even allow it to be used for
that.
