Default Replacement boat service on the Jubilee Line this weekend

I have read that owing to the entire Jubilee Line being hors de combat
over the weekend that there are - very unusual this - replacement
boats. They will run East India to North Greenwich after 16:00 on both
days.

On replacement buses the driver never looks at tickets; I wonder will
the admiral look at them on the boat?
Also, I wonder why the time of 4pm was chosen?

Anyway, it might be a nice spin out on a boat, 'for free'.

Probably for concerts at the O2, which start at 6.30pm on Saturday and
7pm on Sunday.

I think there was a replacement boat service (aka boatstitution)
during the Christmas period closure of the line (i.e. xmas just gone).
Has it happened at any other time?

Mizter T gurgled happily, sounding much like they
were saying:

Let's just hope it doesn't all go pear-shaped and turn into a sub-
stitution.

Indeed.

The O2 also runs their own "O2 express" boat service between Waterloo
and the O2 for concert goers - it's pre-booked journeys only (and it's
actually run for them by Thames Clippers).

See the blurb at the top of this PDF "transport guide" from the O2 for
those going to Saturday's Katherine Jenkins concert:
http://www.theo2.co.uk/images/PDF/mi...e-20100313.pdf

This link to the boat pre-booking page takes one he
https://booking.thamesclippers.com/o...clipper/page/1

The O2's "Getting to the O2" webpage has more...
http://www.theo2.co.uk/location/getting-there.html

Lastly I see that the map that's linked to in the PDF mentioned above
unhelpfully still shows the ELC replacement bus from the New Crosses
as running - though given the Jubilee isn't running, anyone coming
from down that way would be well advised to take the DLR from nearby
Deptford Bridge.

Little known fact: AEG, owners of the Dome*, also own a majority stake
in Thames Clippers.

* or North Greenwich Arena 1, as it'll be called for a few months in
2012.

Without disagreeing with that, the Woolwich Ferry a few miles downstream is
free all the time.

We are the Strasbourg. Referendum is futile.

YES! Not my neck of the woods...
Just as an addendum, I found out the reason: the Blackwall Tunnel
shuts at some time, meaning that replacement bus services cannot run.

I have been told 4pm, but 20:30 seems to be the official time.

Not unusual at all. We have been running replacement boat services
between East India and North Greenwich for quite some time now, although
the service is enhanced when there are events (this weekend Katherine
Jenkins) on at the O2.

The boat runs 16:00 to 00:00 on Saturday primarily for event traffic. On
Sunday, as another poster mentions, the Blackwall Tunnel closes at 20:45
on Sunday night, so after this time, the boat becomes the main way to
cross the Thames towards Stratford. Replacement buses then run Canary
Wharf - East India - Canning Town - West Ham - Stratford.

Cheers

Steve M
