Default Oyster card bus errors..

I've come across my first Oyster card problem, it seems..

My monthly Zone 3 travelcard runs out this weekend, however I've been
happily using it on train and bus alike. I purchased a new Z3 TC on
Thursday afternoon from East Putney tube to start this coming Monday,
with still three days of validity on my old one. However, when I tried
to use the card on a bus (the 209 from Mortlake to Hammersmith), the
reader rejected it as not valid, and I had to pay my fare. I tried to
convince the driver that there was indeed a valid TC on it, and even had
the Record Card with the expiry date to prove it, but he wasn't
interested. This happened again on the way back, so it wasn't a dodgy
reader (unless it was the same bus).

The following day I checked the Oyster card at Hammersmith tube station,
and the assistant confirmed that there was indeed two tickets on there
and my current one was still valid until today. Yet again, I got on the
bus and the card refused to work.

Could this be some kind of problem with having two travelcards on the
same Oystercard and the bus readers getting confused? This seems
somewhat problematic - I use that bus a lot!

Any thoughts? Should I bother ringing Oyster or have I missed something
fundemental here?

G.

All I can say is that it worked for me. My last monthly ended on a
Friday and I started the next one from the Monday. The new ticket was
loaded (at Vauxhall) on the Thursday and I used buses later that day and
again on Friday.

My new ticket was initially used on a bus (a 65) on the Monday morning
and that worked fine too.
