Closest Bus Stops on Same Route
October Half Term Challenge
On the 213 and 151 routes in North Cheam there is a bus stop immediately either side of the A24 on the A2043 Malden Road and Cheam Common Road. The two westbound stops are less than 100m apart (haven't measured it exactly but will do if necessary). Is this the record? So, what is the shortest distance between two bus stops? Ken |

One immediately north of Forest Road and opposite the "Tryst" pub and Standard Music Venue, and one south of Forest Road opposite Blackhorse Road station. I would be surprised if these are more than 100 metres apart. |

There's been discussion before of adjacent stops on opposite sides of dual carriageways. Even if the stop is simply round a corner, the crowflies distance must be less. |

The easterly stop has no markings - it is nearly up to the traffic lights in the first of three lanes at the mouth of the junction. The stop beyond the junction was a bit further than I thought - maybe on the day I was on it, it pulled up a bit early! Ken |

Buses from Hoe Street Walthamstow that terminate at the Bus Station drop off by the tube / rail station and then turn into the bus station and stop to set down at the very first stop. *If that's more than 100 metres I'd be surprised although I recognise the circumstances are a tad unusual. At Elephant & Castle, bus stops V and Z are very close - literally around the corner from each other - and drawing lines on Google Earth suggests the edges of the yellow bus stop boxes are less than 80 metres from each other, though these are long bus stops (served by many frequent routes) so buses will normally travel a bit further than that. It does however makes perfect sense from an interchange maximisation point of view - both stops are served by routes 12 and 148. |
