Met - ELL tunnel

Just curious to know what is the state of the tunnel that used to link
the Met to the ELL. Has the track been lifted and the tunnel sealed off
or is it all still in place "just in case"?

Seems to imply that the tunnel is blocked off and various bits of the
track have been lifted.

Interesting. I had half wondered if it would have been kept and possible
used for stock deliveries to the tube.

What is the obsession with bricking up disused tunnels though, why waste
the money? All it'll achieve is ****ing off the rats and keep the tunnel damp
because there'll be no airflow so hastening the rotting of its lining.
Its not as if a train will suddenly jump the tracks and run up the trackbed
to the met line!

I thought that it was lifted almost as soon as they shut Shoreditch station.

I imagine that would have made getting the met trains off the line a bit
problematic when the whole line was closed because AFAIR shoreditch closed
quite a time before the rest of the line.

Why vandalise or graffiti a disused tunnel when there's a nice refurbished
station nearby to do it to instead?

Helps keep them out of the rest of the network, silly.
