As usual BAA failed to arrange alternative transport for

What, like a fleet of buses? Even the Picadilly line with its eleventy
zillion stops would be faster. So there's little point in them
arranging anything.

Unless you're catching a connection at paddington or going somewhere near
there the piccadilly line is better full stop since by the time you've got
to paddington, shlepped over to the H&C or circle line platforms and waiting
15 mins for a train to crawl into the station then another 30 mins to crawl
anywhere useful the picc will already have got you to the west end.

Yup, those 'eleventy zillion' stops have the advantage of often being
within walking distance of where people actually want to go. Apart from a
few hotels, there isn't much useful within walking distance of Paddington.
