Crossrail urban spaces exhibition
There's currently an exhibition entitled:
"Places & Spaces: Urban Realm and Development on the Crossrail Route" in the RIBA building at 66 Portland Place, W1B 1AD http://www.architecture.com/whatson/...i lroute.aspx It's all about the urban spaces around the Crossrail stations, rather than the railway or the stations themselves. For example, it shows how the increased pedestrian flows will be accommodated. Not surprisingly, considering the venue, the text on the posters is heavy on architectural jargon, but it's worth spending half an hour there if you get a chance. However, it's only open at that venue for a few more days, so if you don't get a chance to visit, here's some pics I took this morning: https://www.flickr.com/photos/reclin...7645577595236/ There will be another chance to see it in person when it moves to The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BT from 21 July to 14 August. http://www.crossrail.co.uk/benefits/...rossrail-route |

The Crossrail one is on the list for next week ;-) Officially, it only opens at 10:00, but I found that the friendly doorman let me go up at 9:50. It's in an open area on the 2nd floor, so no-one has to open a door to an exhibition space to let you in. If you've not been there before, the 1934 RIBA building is quietly impressive in its own right (and for Dyson fans, has the latest Airblade V compact hand-dryer). |
