Heritage railways near London?

I have also been on the Epping Ongar Railway. Or anything else transport related between 8 and 19 June. Something a little different is the miniature (mainly) steam Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway: http://www.rhdr.org.uk You can get there fairly easily from Ashford, about 40 mins from St Pancras. I wouldn't start from there; stay on the train to Folkestone and get a bus from there to Hythe. Note that such a trip would require a little bit of planning; it is not vastly difficult, but it is not the same as reaching the Bluebell or Spa Valley lines by rail from London. -- Arthur Figgis Surrey, UK |
