Guilty m'lud.

I wish people would carry the case a couple of steps forward before
stopping to put it down - then those of us behind could walk around
them.

How can they carry the case when they have to carry a dog?

Guilty m'lud.

Why not just leave it extended as you go up

?????

It's people coming down that seem to automatically collapse the handle
because the case is often on the step behind them and therefore at a
higher level.

I always put the case in front of me for that very reason.

I don't have a problem with it behind me, and the handle up

I'm not a 3 foot midget (sorry for the non-PC answer)

That works! Not so going down.

Yes it does; I always swing the wheely bag to the step in front of me when
going down (handle extended.) Getting off the escalator is then just a
step to the left and then walk.

It's not quite The Timewarp, but it works. Pelvic thrust optional.

The dog goes in the case, of course. Leave suitable apertures for its
feet, and only on escalators will they need to carry the beast and the
case.

That would requi a) consideration for others and b) the application
of a modicum of common sense.

Both in short supply nowadays.

What evidence to you have for that claim, please?

Adding back in the snipped quote for context, I'd cite the fact that so
many people *don't* take those (obvious, surely) few steps forwards.
Usually when I'm behind them.

Maybe they need a sign instructing them that they're allowed to? Or are
airports unique in being a common-decency-excused zone?
