Default What to see on the tube

I'm trying to compile a list of interesting things to go see on the
"tube" on a day trip. Engineering mainly, like the crossover at the end
of the Oxford St Bakerloo, the scale of Canary Wharf and the tunnel out
of Bank-DLR. What others can the team suggest?

Shepherd's Bush (Central Line) with its Siamese twin platform layout.

Notting Hill Gate for the layout with one Central Line track above
the other. (There are a few other stations like that, but this one is
also an interchange, thus more interesting.)

Also on the Central Line, ride from Shepherd's Bush to East Acton and
back, after reading the history of that section, and imagine how the
layout used to be at Wood Lane and the old junction between White City
and East Acton.

Where's that pedestrian tunnel that runs through the exposed remains of a
tunneling shield? Waterloo (Waterloo & City)?

Bank - on the direct link between the W&C and DLR.

Piccadilly Circus, actually.

cough OK.

Wide platforms at Euston, Angel and London Bridge.

Shame that tips to the "behind the scenes" bits of Angel and LB aren't
available any more [I've been on both].

Narrow platforms at Claphams North & Common.

Yes.

River in pipe at head height on Sloane Square platforms. (That reads like a
cryptic crossword clue!)

Seen that, good choice.

Bermondsey station, where the geology changes from solid to mushy halfway
along the station, and the station changes from deep tube to deep pit
accordingly.

Tripcock tester at Earls Court District.

Abandoned signal boxes at Woodside Park.

Abandoned passing loops at Brent Cross.

Corridor designed for football crowds at Arsenal station.

Yes, walked along that.

Crap short escalator at North Greenwich.

Platform Edge Doors between Westminster and North Greenwich inclusive.

OK.

Useless "next southbound train" indicators at the bottom of the Camden Town
escalators.

Platforms shared by different height trains at Ealing Common,. Rayners Lane
etc.

Good.

Can your itinerary include a stop off at Covent Garden for the LT
museum?

Been there several times (had a season ticket once, I think). But yes,
going back again. Did you know it had one of the first public webcams,
over the front door, years ago?

You seem to have included DLR as well as the Tube

Yes, that's why I said "quote" tube "quote".

well let's see

Aldgate Station - junctions both ends and curved platforms.

Ah-ha.

Waterloo W&C - you can just see the depot. Crane at street level near
Lower Marsh for access into the depot!

Been on a tour of that before, and a cab ride. It's this we are trying
to if not match, get close to!

Earls Court - very busy junction. Ancient style destination indicators.

Yes.

And thanks for all the other suggestions.

Brakes test track with water sprinklers alongside between Northfields and
South Ealing (or Acton Town?).

That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line -
It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes

South Ealing and Acton Town.

Wilst on that line don't forget the widening of the formation just east of
the disused Osterley Park and Spring Grove station.

Abandoned signal boxes at Woodside Park.

Singular now - they've nicked one of them!

The silver-painted glass tubes used to stop big trains from going into
little tunnels, visible from the north end of Finchley Road station. There
is also a set near Barons Court, but I don't think they can be readily seen
from any station.
