I'm trying to compile a list of interesting things to go see on the
"tube" on a day trip. Engineering mainly, like the crossover at the end
of the Oxford St Bakerloo, the scale of Canary Wharf and the tunnel out
of Bank-DLR. What others can the team suggest?

Way off beam from other suggestions, but, armed with a copy of Jim
Blake's "Northern Wastes", a visit to Highgate for the High level
station and then Mill Hill East, and imagine what might have been.

Also off-beam, Ruislip station is worth a visit. I believe that the
station, together with the signal box and footbridge, is a listed
building.
