Probably been asked before but why no direct rail service now that Hex is
running well and they're talking about stopping services? |

... Probably been asked before but why no direct rail service now that Hex is running well and they're talking about stopping services? Probably lack of paths. Virgin can't get paths for their Cross Country trains to run via the West London line to Gatwick. You could divert the Brighton-Watford Junction trains to Heathrow, perhaps, but then the railways lose the connection into the WCML. -- Terry Harper, Web Co-ordinator, The Omnibus Society 75th Anniversary 2004, see http://www.omnibussoc.org/75th.htm E-mail: URL: http://www.terry.harper.btinternet.co.uk/ |

You could divert the Brighton-Watford Junction trains to Heathrow, perhaps, but then the railways lose the connection into the WCML. If some North London Line services could be run to Heathrow then this could theoretically provide single-change access to all other airports - Luton and Gatwick via West Hampstead Thameslink, Stansted via the new One Stratford - Stansted service and City via Canning Town and the DLR. At Willesden Jcn you could stop more West Coast services, which would (presumably) give a quicker route than the coach from Watford. Saying that, Crossrail will do all that anyway except for the WCML link. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |

Presumably this is (will be) more than just the one return Stratford service operated by WAGN extended to Stansted. Dave. Starting in December next year. (not sure why the long wait - maybe something to do with the West Anglia resignalling project?) Self-plug: http://www.alwaystouchout.com/project/59 It's certainly more than just one return service. NatEx say it is a "day-long" service... hopefully this means throughout the day (I'd guess hourly or half-hourly if we're lucky) rather than just a service which takes all day to get there. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |
