Seen on the Bakerloo Line last Sunday afternoon - train pulled into
Charing Cross northbound platform, side door of driver's cab was open - it was a little hot underground - and he had an open newspaper propped up in front of him. I was waiting on the platform about halfway along, and as he passed me by he was applying the brake and quite obviously reading the paper at the same time. It looked like a tabloid that used large fonts - perhaps the People, News of the World, Mirror or Sun. He was aged about 45-50, had a moustache and craggy face. He wore an open neck shirt. No cap. The ride to Paddington was a little jerky - so I guess that he was concentrating more on the news (such as it is in those rags) than on the driving. |
