I would. Once you've cycled around central London, you'd never use any form
of public transport again.

Probably because you are now dead.

Sorry, but someone I loved was knocked off her bicycle and killed - I
hate it that my husband continues to cycle, and I will not do so in
London again.

I wouldn't go anywhere near as far as the poster you were replying to,

mins - literally door-to-door.

That's fine and something I've considered for myself (alas, in my case
I'm slightly too far for my liking). The thing is, we aren't talking
about central London transport in this case.

I wish! Actually I'm fairly happy with the buses, though some drivers do
seem to treat their job like something out of 'Wacky Races'!

Probably because you are now dead.

No I'm not! Nor is my partner!

I don't cycle anywhere now cos of my MS.
My partner cycles everywhere.
Neither of us has been injured cycling.

Sorry, but someone I loved was knocked off her bicycle and killed - I
hate it that my husband continues to cycle, and I will not do so in
London again.

Even though there are more deaths and injuries per mile in the countryside...

And one of my dearest friends was killed driving a car, so I would
advise you not to set foot in one again. People also die in buses and
airplanes so you should really knock that off as well.

Rarely, in planes - safest form of travel there is. And I know that
after we had a minor shunt in our car, it was a very long time before I
could relax in one - as one of my friends now cannot, since she, too,
had a shunt.

As for going to bed, don't even think about it...

Westminster to Putney, 35-40 minutes by bike,
hard to beat, even if I get a direct train
from St James's Park to East Putney.

I wouldn't call Sloane Square to Fulham Brodway via Gloucester Rd "direct"!

That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line -
It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes

Someone you loved could equally have been killed just crossing the road,
I've cycled around for a living for the past 2 years and am
conspicuously not dead. It may have hurt, but your attitude doesn't make
sense, she could equally have been killed crossing the road ... would
you never do that again?
