How does a reduction in platforms correlate to declining passenger numbers?

Is this a serious question or are you being funny?

Default Trivia: Declining passenger numbers

Does Esher retain platforms on the Fast Lines?

The very derelict platforms are still there, but the stairs down from
the overbridge are gone.

It used to have some Race
Platforms as well as platforms on the 4 through lines.

Increased use of fewer platforms *could* actually mean an upsurge in
passengers.

Kensington Olympia?

Not far away is Willesden Junction (NW10), which at its peak had
around 15 platforms, and now has 5.

And long overdue to have 4 of them reinstated. When you consider how
much money was squandered on the West Coast upgrade thet they couldn't
have found a few hundred thou to build a worthwhile interchange. Also
when you consider the promises that TOCs have had to make to get
franshises and Silverlink have done nothing.
