I have an Oyster Pre Pay for occasional trips but still buy paper
Travelcards when I'm making intensive trips. One such occasion was last Tuesday. Now for simplicity I keep the paper Travelcard for the day in the "clear" half of the Oyster wallet. Well, while riding on the 19, the conductress came I, I removed my ticket for inspection and she saw the Oyster card in the wallet. She said that I had to touch the Oystercard on her reader. I obviously explained that I wasn't using it and that I had a one Day Travelcard. Would you believe, she still tried to insist that I would have to touch the reader?! Naturally I refused but she seemed incapable of understanding that there was not relationship between the ODTC and the Oyster. Eventually she simply scowled and left me to it! Oh well! -- Ian Jelf, MITG Birmingham, UK Registered Blue Badge Tourist Guide for London and the Heart of England http://www.bluebadge.demon.co.uk |
