Default Engineering work ticket validity

There's a real onslaught of engineering work this weekend - Jubilee
Kingsbury to Waterloo, Met Harrow to Aldgate, DLR Westferry/Poplar to
Mudchute, northbound Northern Bank branch, High St Kensington on Sunday
morning.

Some of these disruptions say valid tickets will be accepted on local
bus services - good. However, that puts Prepay users at somewhat of a
disadvantage as unless some cleverness has been built into the system,
there is no way for a bus driver to know whether their "ticket" is valid
or not, and they will end up paying extra to get to their destination.

Is there any way around this?
